Spotify has launched a new playlist for subscribers to keep them entertained during lockdown. Dubbed Daily Wellness, it combines recommended music and podcasts in a single playlist which is refreshed twice a day. So, if you’re working from home – or need something to keep you entertained while exercising once a day – Spotify has got you covered.
According to Spotify, it has designed the new playlist to fit into each subscribers’ daily routine. Updates will land in the morning and evening based on your listening habits and preferences. Spotify is placing an emphasis on upbeat motivational content in the morning before switching to more relaxing mixes in the evening. That’s to ensure you’re ready for a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.
Spotify users will find hours of content – from music they might recognise to curated wellness podcasts, plus a few new things in the mix.
Like the tracks, these podcast episodes will be tailored based on the time of day. Inspirational podcasts like Daily Quote and Yoga Girl Daily will be included in the Daily Wellness playlist in the morning, while the evening refresh will bring mindfulness with the likes of Daily Breath with Deepak Chopra episodes, or poetry from The Slowdown.
Listeners will also find episodes from the likes of Everyday Positivity, Wake Up / Wind Down, Rob Auton Daily, and more. Spotify has increasingly placed emphasis on podcasts as it finds new ways to keep users engaged with its app, which is available on iPhone, Android, macOS, Windows 10 and more.
The monthly subscription service faces increased competition with the likes of Apple Music now boasting 56 million paid subscribers worldwide (still quite a way off the 108 million paid subscribers boasted by Spotify and 232 million monthly active users overall) and TIDAL offering higher-quality tracks than any other service.
Amazon is currently offering three month trial of its Amazon Music service, which can be used to listen to handpicked playlists, tracks or albums on your smartphone, tablet, computer, or on Amazon’s hugely-popular Echo smart speaker series.
