Cardi B on Wednesday night delivered a spirited series of political takes – most passionately, a disappointed one after Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race earlier in the day.
The Grammy-winning artist, 27, took to Instagram Live and chastised her fans who didn’t show up at the polls to support the Democratic senator from Vermont, who she’s pledged her support for in the past two elections.
The singer, whose full name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, said she was ‘very upset with everybody,’ noting that the groundswell of support online for the progressive candidate did not match the results at the polls.

‘I see a lot of young people on the Internet always lying … y’all motherf***ers, y’all young motherf****rs,’ she said. ‘Y’all wasn’t voting, y’all wasn’t voting, what the f*** was up with that?’
The I Like It performer noted that the absence of younger people supporting Sanders at the ballot box hinders them in the issues they face in their lives, such as paying for college, as the people who do vote are older and focused on different issues.
‘Those are the people that are voting!’ she said. ‘Those are the people that are voting and because of that, that means Bernie is out of the motherf*****g race!’
Cardi B and Bernie took part in a discussion last summer in a nail bar, which they chat about issues ranging from climate change to the minimum wage to eliminating student debt.

She said in a December interview with Vogue that she felt Sanders was the genuine article when it comes to caring about, and leading for, the people.
‘People are not perfect, but he has the perfect intentions,’ she said. ‘He naturally cares about minorities. He actually cares about people getting Medicare because he knows they can’t afford it.
‘I don’t feel like he’s just saying these things ’cause he want the vote.’

Calling it like she sees it: Cardi B said the country is ‘about to enter a recession’ amid the pandemic, as ‘we don’t even know when this mother s*** is gonna leave’
On her livestream Wednesday, the singer said, ‘Now we gotta vote for [Democratic front-runner Joe Biden], adding that she was tentatively throwing her support behind Biden and was planning to research him.
She made clear she is not confident with President Donald Trump for another four years amid the ongoing COVID-19 breakout, and the expected economic crash amid the country’s shutdown to flatten the curve of the pandemic.
‘I do not want 45 to be president again, now y’all this s*** is very f***ing serious,’ Cardi B said. ‘We got no f***ing time to play around … do you really want 45 to be in charge of the recession.’
She noted that while President Barack Obama ‘cleaned the recession up’ left by President George W. Bush in 2009, she doesn’t believe Trump is ‘capable of handling’ this.

Cardi B added that she thinks Trump doesn’t ‘give a f***’ about the issues minorities will face amid the upcoming economic conditions. She said that while she is well off, many of her friends and associates are getting hit hard by the pandemic. She also questioned where the stimulus checks are as many remain out of work and in need of money to pay their bills.
The rap star explained to her younger fans that some of them will not be able to get hired at the jobs they had before, as the job market will shrink and leaves them competing with more qualified candidates who were let go from other jobs.
‘When I was 18 … I couldn’t even get a job in a f***ing supermarket bro!’ she said.
