While we’re all stuck at home, some of us parents are able to take advantage of this time to get to know our children a little better. Since celebrities are in the same boat, they’re also sharing fun tidbits about their kids’ personalities too. On The Tonight Show, John Legend revealed that his daughter Luna is almost too kind for his liking.
“She’s learning how to play [Hungry] Hungry Hippos and I realized that she’s too nice when she plays games,” Legend said of his 4-year-old daughter with wife Chrissy Teigen. “She does not want to win all the way. Like, she wants us to tie every time. I want her to be a little more competitive. I like that she’s kind, but I don’t want her to want to lose or tie and want me to feel better by winning or tying. So, we’re working on that.”
Fallon, who’s newest crew members include daughters Winnie Rose, 6, and Frances Cole, 5, along with his producer wife Nancy Juvonen behind the camera, has experienced something different with his daughter.
“My daughter’s the opposite,” he said. “She starts crying even when I’m even in the lead in Chutes and Ladders. She’s like ‘I don’t want to do this.’ It’s like, let’s finish the game and you might win.”
The latter scenario sounds pretty familiar to us. It’s often quite a victory just to finish any board game when kids are still figuring out that most games involve winners and losers.
“[Luna’s like,] ‘No, Dad. You’re doing okay. You’re doing okay. You’re fine; we tied. See, we tied.’ Even though she won,” Legend said. Considering what a philanthropic, gentle soul her dad seems to be, this doesn’t surprise us at all.
