Matt Baker, 42, announced his decision to leave The One Show last year, with next week set to feature his last appearance on the BBC evening show. The presenter will be leaving co-host Alex Jones, 43, to man the ship until his permanent replacement is revealed. However, with more time on his hands, it seems the presenter could be making a jump into unknown terrain as he switches channels to partake in a hit reality show.
The Countryfile star is no novice when it comes to competition shows, having made it all the way to the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2010.
Since then, the presenter hasn’t been a part of any celebrity reality contest programme, but everything could change a decade on from his last stint.
Matt did reveal he would remain committed to his duties with the broadcaster after announcing his decision to leave his current role, but he could be jumping ship later this year.
Fans of ITV favourite I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will be pleased to hear there is support behind the former Blue Peter star heading Down Under.

Over the course of the past week, Matt has been making various appearances on The One Show, but via video link, as he has been self-isolating after his children presented with signs of coronavirus.
His last day of hosting was meant to be next Tuesday, March 31 and it’s not yet known if he will be in the studio for the big send-off.
However, with all the uncertainty at the moment, bookmakers are seeing huge backing for him to take to the jungle later this year.
According to Ladbrokes, the presenter’s odds stand at 3/1 to join the all-star line-up heading Down Under in November.
Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “The One Show’s loss could be I’m A Celeb’s gain if the latest odds are anything to go by, with a stint Down Under potentially on the cards for Matt Baker.”
It’s yet to be revealed which famous faces will be taking part but could fans see Matt being one such name amongst them?
Viewers have seen a whole array of stars finding themselves fighting with critters, from music icons to soap stars, sportspeople to reality stars, so it’s not a far cry for The One Show host to be signing up.
The Countryfile host has never spoken out about the idea of venturing to the jungle, so could this be his year?

“Yeah, feeling a lot better. Thank you for asking,” he continued, after his co-host announced on Friday he wasn’t well enough to make an appearance.
Although he might not be in the studio, the show will likely pay homage to the host for his decade long stint manning the fort.
