Samsung’s all-new Galaxy S20 series is now sale. For your hard-earned money, you’ll get a silky smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen, bigger battery, faster processor, and access to 5G network speeds. However, one of the biggest benefits of the new Galaxy S20 is the camera.
Samsung is making big noises about the rear snapper on its flagship which offers photography fans the ability to zoom in closer than ever before – via its 100x Space Zoom – and shoot footage in full 8K resolution.
In its marketing spiel, Samsung boasts: “Now, more than ever, we capture our lives and tell our stories through our smartphones—and that is why the camera is the single most important feature for consumers purchasing a new smartphone. Designed for the way we live, the Galaxy S20 introduces an entirely new camera system – powered by AI and with our biggest image sensor yet—to bring out the best in every image and every moment.”
That all may sound very nice on paper but what’s the camera actually like to use? If you had any concerns that Galaxy S20 won’t live up to expectations then take a look at this latest video to appear on YouTube.

Shot by the team Christou Visuals, the footage uses the new S20+ and flaunts its ability to shoot footage in full 8K resolution.
Explaining more, Christou Visuals said: “We travelled to the Lofoten Islands to shoot a short film entirely on the Galaxy S20+. This was shot in 8K using Samsung’s default camera app, we used a gimbal for some sequences and audio was added in post.”
It’s certainly impressive with parts of the content appearing as if taken on a professional video camera. Watching the clip could be enough to convince you to make the switch to the new Galaxy S20 but it’s worth remembering that these latest phones are anything but cheap.
The basic S20 without 5G starts from £799 and the S20+ that was used to shoot this latest video costs £999.
Things get even worse for those wanting to own the top-end S20 Ultra as this phone can end up costing you over £1,350 if you want the fully-loaded 512GB version – ouch!
If you want to own an S20 on contract, you’ll find deals starting from £20 a month which sounds reasonable but it does include a hefty £450 upfront fee.
If you’re still undecided, Express.co.uk will be bringing you a full S20 review in the coming days so watch this space.
