Stacey Dooley reveals she’s been too busy to go to Buckingham Palace and collect her MBE from the Royal Family
Receiving an MBE would be a lifetime highlight for most people – but not for Stacey Dooley, who says she’s been too busy to pop to Buckingham Palace and collect her award from the Royal Family.
The 33-year-old documentary maker and Strictly Come Dancing winner was awarded her gong in 2018 for services to broadcasting, but she didn’t turn up to receive it because she was touring the country promoting one of her books.
She confessed: ‘I was meant to collect the medal but I didn’t have time. I was working and I never kind of rearranged, so I must sort that out. It’s mad, isn’t it?’

12 years on, does Liz actually look younger?
Liz Hurley is either a whizz with her Instagram filters or else she really does look younger and younger as each year passes.
And although the actress claims she never exercises, I reckon she stays so trim by rummaging through her wardrobe at her country estate to find old outfits. Here she is squeezing back into a stunning sequined black gown that she last wore at a glamorous fundraising dinner in 2008.
Referring to the coronavirus crisis, Liz told her 1.6 million Instagram followers: ‘Why go out when you can stay in? Why buy new dresses if you can squeeze into one you’ve had for 15 years? #staysafe.’
For my money, Liz does the dress more justice at 54 than she did at 42. Now, if you need me, I’ll be trying to squeeze back into my old brown corduroy flares…

When it comes to fashion labels, the Beckhams don’t have much luck. Posh’s clothing empire has made losses year after year, and now I can reveal that David has parted company with Kent & Curwen, the London-based menswear brand he signed a seven- figure deal with in 2015.
Despite him launching a Peaky Blinders-themed range with the firm, it posted losses of £10.7 million last year. My source says: ‘The partnership appears to be very much over.’ Meanwhile, David, 44, has teamed up with Ralph Lauren to make the suits for players at his new Inter Miami side. Becks’s spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

Former PM Theresa May must be delighted that she has dodged having to make any tough decisions regarding the coronavirus outbreak now that she’s a humble backbencher.
And she has been using her new-found freedom to enjoy the finer things in life: I spotted her and loyal husband Philip at the Cecil Beaton Bright Young Things exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery last week.
The pair even appeared to be roaming freely without security, but Philip reassured me: ‘They’re lurking around here somewhere.’
