This means fans can expect the first episode of Death in Paradise to air in the first or second week of January next year.

Express.co.uk will update this article when more information is available.

The news of the show hitting the 10th-anniversary mark does not come as much of a surprise, considering since its launch in 2011, Death In Paradise remains one of television’s highest-rating dramas.

For example, series eight alone pulled in an average of more than seven million consolidated viewers. The figures for the most recent series have not yet been released.

The news of season 10 was announced at the same time season nine was given the green light.

In a statement announcing the double renewal, BBC Drama Commissioning Editor Tommy Bulfin said: “We are delighted to announce that Death in Paradise is coming back to BBC1.

“The show is a jewel in our roster of top drama and we are thrilled that it’s returning.”

Who will star in Death in Paradise season 10?

The tenth series will see Ralph Little come into his own as DI Neville Parker.

He joined the cast of season nine halfway through the series, replacing Ardal O’Hanlon who played DI Jack Mooney.

O’Hanlon announced in October 2019 that he would be leaving the show to “ explore other opportunities.”

Speaking to the Metro, Little has already opened up about his plans for season 10.

He said: “‘I’ve got roughly four months. I want to get my French in order, obviously [Neville] speaks English but it would be nice to speak French on the island. So I have to work on my French.”

He added: “And my physique. Neville is not somebody we’re going to see coming out with the sea like James Bond, he’s probably allergic to everything in the sea.”

Also likely to return for a tenth series if the rest of Neville Parker’s team.

This would mean Tobi Bakare will be back as JP Hooper, Shyko Amos as Ruby Patterson, Aude Legastelois as Madeleine Dumas, Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.

What will happen in Death in Paradise season 10?

At the moment, it remains unknown what will happen in the tenth series of Death in Paradise.

Each episode sees the team on the island of Saint-Marie investigate different crimes in each episode, so it is hard to predict what will happen next.

There is no doubt that Neville Parker will be tasked with cracking some tough cases along the way as he settles in on the island of Saint Marie.

As it is the 10-year-anniversary of the show, fans should expect some epic storylines and huge plot twists.

Fans have been taking to Twitter to share their theories on what could happen.

One fan tweeted: “Would be great if do a one-off three detective story involving Parker, Mooney and Goodman to mark the anniversary.”

A second fan said: “Marvellous. Please can @lizbourgine and @Don_warrington be in every episode too.”

A third fan said: “I would love to see Sara Martins return for a couple of episodes just for a visit.”
