Bushfire fundraiser
The wholesale nursery Antique Perennials is having a one-off public opening on February 1 as a bushfire relief fundraiser. The perennial specialists – who were burnt out themselves on Black Saturday, and who specialise in rare and unusual varieties – will open their stock gardens and nursery from 10am to 4pm, entry by donation, with $5 for every plant purchased donated to the Bendigo Bank Bushfire fund. The nursery is at 3153 Healesville-Kinglake Road, Kinglake.
Open gardens
Two large and botanically diverse Olinda gardens are open this weekend. The two-hectare 'Eungella' (140 Falls Road) includes a snow gum walk, more than 70 varieties of heritage fruit trees, roses and a "wild garden" containing old camellias, chestnuts and walnuts. Both gardens are open 10am to 4.30pmFebruary 1 and 2, $8. Go to opengardensvictoria.org.au for more information.
