Google Drive is an online storage and file sharing service, as well as an online productivity suite that can be accessed through a browser. There are multiple reports of the service suffering a server failure with many unable to access their documents.
On website DownDetector, hundreds of people have reported being unable to access their Google Drive files due to a server issue.
One person wrote: “Drive does not sync with a “drive” folder in files app that is in my Chromebook. Everybody has this issue. please help. looks like vpn is blocking your URLs on port 443:”
Another said: “Google drive file stream just became disabled for our entire domain. Others on twitter are experiencing the same issue. You may want to update your status page for G suite”.
There are nearly 20,000 reports of Google Drive outages around the world on DownDetector.
DownDetector’s outage map shows hotspots across North America where Google Drive is not working.
Other areas impacted include the UK, India, Argentina and France.
Users of Google Drive have reacted to the system failure on Twitter.
One said: “Here I thought it was just me, but nope, #GoogleDrive is down. Happy #Monday everyone.”
Another tweeted: “Google Drive is down for many users. A good reminder that neither Google, nor Microsoft backup your cloud data. #googledrive.”
A third said: “Error loading Google Drive files… Files aren’t opening… #googledrive #errorloading.”
