Conor McGregor admits he was ‘disrespectful’ and ‘lacked commitment’ before loss to bitter UFC rival Khabib Nurmagomedov – The Sun

CONOR McGREGOR admitted he was “disrespectful” and “lacked commitment” in preparation for his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Irish star has not fought since his round four submission defeat to lightweight king Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

McGregor entered the fight without a win since November 2016 and was fresh off a money-spinning boxing cameo against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

The Dublin southpaw also seemed just as interested in selling his Proper 12 whiskey as he was to training for the grudge match at UFC 229.

But just weeks away from his anticipated return against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, McGregor insisted his mentally has taken a 180 degree turn in focus and determination.

He told the MacLife: “That last camp was horrendous and I have no one to blame but myself and I did blame myself and made the corrections.

“Thankfully I have a strong team behind me that are pushing me and guiding me the right way and I’m guiding myself that’s the main thing.

“Fighting is always close to my mind now, and I know I’ve got many businesses that are thriving at the minute but fighting is my bread and butter and that is what I’m focusing on.

“He is trembling, that man is trembling he doesn’t want it. He doesn't want it.

“I just smell s***, and that’s it, he’s afraid. Everyone wants it, the boss wants it, Dana wants it, we all want it, he can run but he cannot hide.

“That (loss) was after a horrendous camp where I was so disrespectful to the people that believe in me, disrespectful to my team with my lack of commitment.

“It will come back to him, like I said, he can run but he cannot hide.”
