The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill) barely made it through the first season. After taking on a horde of ghouls in the final episode, he eventually regained his health, and found himself thrown into the arms of Ciri (Freya Allen).
The show’s second protagonist, Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) wasn’t so lucky, however.
The final episode of The Witcher saw Yennefer fighting tooth and nail at the Battle of Sodden Hill.
And although she and her people were not doing too well in the war, she eventually pulled out all the stops to kill off the Nilfgaardian warriors.
In her last attempt to defeat her enemies, Yennefer gathered all of her magic – or her “chaos” – and discharged it in an unbelievably large fire blast.

While her actions were successful in taking out the soldiers after her, she disappeared in the process.
Despite this being one of the more incredible moments in the show, fans have now begun fearing the loss of their favourite character in the show.
Fans of the franchise will remember the Battle for Sodden Hill featured in the witcher book Blood of Elves – but Yennefer never sacrificed herself.
It is also worth noting the character was present throughout most if not all of the Witcher’s story – therefore viewers aren’t sure what is going on, and have taken to Twitter to voice their concern.
One wrote: “I hope Yennefer isn’t dead #TheWitcher.”
Another asked: “Is Yennefer dead???? #TheWitcher,” while another agreed: “She cannot n must not die.”(sic)
One complained: “And now my b***h Yennefer dead I can not. #TheWitcher #Yennefer.”
One emotionally added: “So I finished #TheWitcher and almost cried when Yennefer released all her chaos and saved err body… I hope she isn’t dead that would suck.”(sic)

Thankfully, Yennefer actor Anya Chalotra has been confirmed to return in the upcoming second season of the show.
And recently, The Witcher’s showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explained what viewers will see in the new episodes.
She explained: “What I would say is that season one is very much about building blocks.
“It’s about constructing the world, and setting up these characters, and putting them on paths, and knocking those dominoes over.”

She went on to add: “When you get to season two, all of those things start to come to play, which is that characters start meeting each other – sometimes getting along, sometimes not.
“All those things that we set up – Geralt and Yennefer; Geralt and Ciri; Yennefer and Ciri; all of the different kingdoms that you just barely hear about in season one, start rising to the surface in season 2.
“So the storytelling is a little more intense in a way, and maybe a little more focused and driven in the journies that we’re telling in season two.”
The Witcher is available on Netflix now.
