Fashion designers Sara Foster, 38, and Erin Foster, 37, spoke Tuesday on the Sibling Revelry podcast with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, detailing how Foster was more concerned with bringing up the Jenner boys during his 1991-2005 marriage to their mother, Linda Thompson following his 1986 split from the girls’ mother Rebecca Dyer.
‘Our dad was raising other children – he wasn’t raising us – he was raising Brandon and Brody,’ Sara said on the podcast.
The latest: David Foster’s adult daughters Sara Foster, 38, and Erin Foster, 37, opened up on their complicated relationship with their father – and how Brandon and Brody Jenner figured into it
Sara said she was ‘dealing with [her] whole own emotional turmoil, which was watching [her] father raise other children,’ referring to the adult sons of Thompson and Caitlyn Jenner.
‘That was the thing that kept me up at night,’ Sara said, adding that her happiness ‘weighed so heavily on’ Erin, her younger sister.
Erin said that she, Sara and their younger sister Jordan, now 33, would never again live under their father’s roof following his parting with Dyer.
‘We never lived with our dad, right, after our parents broke up,’ Erin said. ‘So, from the ages of 3 and 5 we were living with our mom, and our dad was living in this $20 million house with Brandon and Brody. It had the trolley, it had the pool and this thing.’
Relations: Foster was married to Brody and Brandon’s mom Linda Thompson following his 1986 split from the girls’ mother Rebecca Dyer. The quartet was snapped in 2013 in LA
Pained past: Both of the sisters said they harbored resentment toward Brandon and Brody amid the precarious family situation
Bold words: Sara said, ‘Our dad was raising other children – he wasn’t raising us – he was raising Brandon and Brody’
Erin said that people often had a misconception that she and her sisters were being brought up in the lap of luxury with the famed music producer father – but that was hardly the case.
‘They had a very different life, but out in the world, people would be like, “You guys are spoiled brats and you guys have it all and you’re rich kids,”‘ she said. ‘And we would be like, “I mean, yeah, but we don’t live there. We don’t have the gate code. We don’t have a room there. We’re not really a part of that world.”‘
Both of the sisters said they harbored resentment toward Brandon and Brody amid the precarious family situation.
Search for love: Foster has been married five times, tying the knot earlier this year with actress Katharine McPhee. He was snapped in Washington, D.C. earlier this week
Erin clarified, ‘Mine was less resentment towards them, it was more like, we’re misunderstood out in the world, because we have this fake, spoiled lifestyle, but we’re not even really allowed to be a part of it; so, we get all the backlash for it, but we don’t actually get the benefits.’
Erin spent a year attending high school in Switzerland as what she called an act of rebellion.
‘I had to, like, completely rebel against my parents to survive,’ she said. ‘To survive, I basically had to tell them what I had to do.’
The composer, who wed actress Katharine McPhee earlier this year, was previously married four times: To Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid from 2011 to 2017; Thompson from 1991 to 2005; Dyer from 1982 to 1986; and B.J. Cook from 1972 to 1981.
