Samsung could be about to release a new Galaxy S10 model… yes, you read that correctly. Almost a year after the original Galaxy S10 range appeared on shelves across the globe, renowned leaker OnLeaks claims that Samsung is gearing-up to launch a new addition to the series.
OnLeaks recently partnered with 91Mobiles to deliver a set of alleged images for what it’s tipped to be called the Galaxy S10 Lite (it’s rumoured the handset will be called the Galaxy A91 in some markets). The device is shown sporting an all-screen design on its front with a centred hole-punch à la Galaxy Note 10. The hardware will apparently come with an AMOLED display as large as 6.7-inches, meaning the device itself could be bigger than the Galaxy S10e, regular Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+.
On its rear, the Galaxy S10 Lite is exhibited with four sensors on its rear. Interestingly, one of the lenses is shown to be square in shape, suggesting the handset could come with advanced zooming capabilities not seen on other Galaxy S10 flavours.
Prior leaks have suggested the S10 Lite could offer a 48-megapixel primary, a 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle and a 5-megapixel telephoto lens. It’s also possible the hardware could offer an additional time-of-flight (ToF) sensor, too.
The cameras on the purported S10 Lite are shown housed in a rectangular camera module that looks incredibly similar to that rumoured for Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S11 series.
Internally, the new Galaxy S10 model has been tipped to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor under its bonnet alongside 8GB of RAM, suggesting it could be more powerful than the Galaxy S10e.
It’s currently unclear if the phone’s processor will vary depending on the region sold (Samsung typically puts its own Exynos processors in some of its smartphones in addition to using Qualcomm technologies).
Although the alleged S10 Lite render from Android Headlines only showed the front of the device, it told a similar tale to that from OnLeaks and 91 Mobiles.
The handset is once again displayed with an all-screen design with minimal bezels and a single centred hole-punch at its top. By far the biggest question mark hovering over the S10 Lite concerns pricing and release date. Rumours have suggested the handset could be unveiled by the Seoul-based tech giant later this month while others have pointed to a January reveal.
There’s absolutely no word on pricing. Having “Lite” in the phone’s name would certainly suggest it’s going to be priced cheaper than other S10 models, but the phone’s alleged spec sheet certainly beg to differ.
With that said, the purported S10 Lite is certainly a curious concept and could push Samsung fans to wait until its expected reveal before forking over any cash for any other S10 models.
