Instagram DOWN: Photo sharing app not working as thousands hit by outage

Instagram users are facing a night without access to the popular app. The Facebook-owned social network, which centres around sharing short videos and photos to friends and family, is currently down and not working with no word on when things will be back online.

The outage started around 7.40pm GMT, with many complaining that their stories and feed are down.

Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, is one of the most popular social media networks in the world but fans won’t be enjoying its delights until things get back on track. There’s no official word from the service about what is causing the disastrous outage… or when it will be fixed!.

Independent outage monitor DownDetector, which tracks social media mentions to try and track issues with popular websites and online services, has recorded more than 2,00 reports from users who are having issues refreshing their Instagram app on Android, iPhone, or web app.

Users have taken to Down Detectors forum to vent their frustrations at the outage with one fan saying, “Stories and feed down, unable to refresh my feed.”

Social media is also full of users saying they can’t access the Instagram app.

Posting a message on Twitter, one user said, “Thanks @instagram for being down yet again.”

Whilst another added, “Is Instagram down again??”
