Black Crowes See Jump In Sales, Streams After Reunion Announcement

The Black Crowes reunited earlier this month and performed for the first time since 2103.

Their shows on November 11 and 14 evoked overwhelming response, and according to Nielsen Music, the band’s catalog soared 39% to 3 million on-demand U.S. streams in the tracking week ending on November 14.

The band soared 110% to log 4,000 equivalent album points during the period. Out of that, 2,000 were through album sales. Song download sales vaulted as much as 179% to 4,000.

“She Talks to Angels” logged 1.2 million streams, gaining 7%. With sales rising 93% to 1,000 in the tracking period, the song re-entered the Rock Digital Song Sales list, hitting the No. 16 spot.

The song was the band’s second No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart for a week in March 1991 and it also rose to No. 30 on Billboard Hot 100, earning the band its first top 40 on the list that year.

Black Crowes’ cover of Otis Redding‘s “Hard to Handle” logged 492,000 streams, rising 8%. Sales soared by 193% to 1,000 in the tracking week. The song had hit Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1 for two weeks in November 1990.

The band now celebrates the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, released in February 1990. The album went on to hit the fourth spot on the Billboard 200 in April 1991.

The Black Crowes are set to embark on a tour in 2020, with the first show scheduled to take place in Austin, Texas, on June 17.

Before Black Crowes, My Chemical Romance and Rage Against Machine, recorded handsome gains in sales and on streaming platforms following their reunion announcements.
