Rich kid who spends £450 on coffee every month cries after visiting food bank

A pampered student who spends £450 a month on a takeaway coffee burst into tears on TV after visiting a food bank.

Sophie, 24, from Cheshire, starred on Channel 5's episode of Rich Kids Go Skint.

The woman, who admitted to receiving a monthly £750 allowance from her mum, swapped her life of luxury to spend a week with Loughborough family-of-seven the Boors.

However, upon visiting a food bank, the girl had a brutal wake-up call.

Skint couple Mandy and Pete live with their five kids in a council house in Loughborough.

Mum Mandy is unemployed while dad Pete is in the process of starting his own business, seeing the family currently relying on benefits to get by.

During the episode, the family explained out of the £1,500 they receive each month, they're left with £40 after food and bills.

The parents admitted they had skipped meals in the past to provide food for their children.

In one clip, Sophie said: "I think my biggest monthly outgoing is coffee.

"Takeaway coffee so Starbucks or Costa, I would have at least two coffees a day costing £4 each so that's £8 a day."

Mandy gasps at the revelation.

"This sounds bad but I don't really budget," Sophie adds.

"If I go out for dinner I could spend £100."

Mandy asks: "What do you get for that?"

"I'd go to a restaurant and have a three-course meal and a few drinks," Sophie adds.

Mandy is left in shock over the revelation.

Pete then decides to take her to view a food shelter for a "wake up call".

He says: "Me and Mandy have been here two or three times when we've had no money at all.

"They'd give us groceries for two or three days.

"Two or three times I've had to do it.

"The hardest thing I've ever had to do was to ask someone for help to feed my family which I should be doing."

"I'm not an emotional person but that's horrible," Sophie adds, wiping her eye.

Sophie is a dentistry student while running her own online fitness coaching business on the side.

Throughout the episode, Sophie admitted to spending £200 a month on her lips and £150 for botox every three months, admitting: "It's actually quite a cost to keep up."

The pampered 24-year-old also revealed her £1,600 Givenchy bag is her "pride and joy".

"It's worth the money because it makes me look 10 times better," she added.
