This mama has no shame in her “big candy bar” game, and she has one for anyone who wants one.
Kaitlyn Ross, a reporter for 11Alive News in Atlanta, has gone viral with her post about making Halloween “joyful” this year.
“I’m going to do it!” the mom started her post. “I’m going to be the house that hands out the big candy bars at Halloween this year.”
“Why? Because it’s JOYFUL! And I am so sick of hearing about the Halloween haters.”
Ross went on to note that so far this week, her station has reported on “a city that has made it crime for kids over the age 14 to trick or treat,” “a family who ‘ranted’ that kids from other neighborhoods were coming to their house for their ‘good candy,’ ” and “people refusing to give Halloween candy until a child audibly says, ‘trick or treat.'”
To that she says, “Come to my house, you get a candy bar!”
“Is your kid nonverbal? Shy? Not in the mood to talk to a total stranger? They get a candy bar without having to say a word!”
“Does your child have a dairy allergy? No problem, I got some skittles.”

Ross went on to say in the post, which garnered more than 79,000 shares on Facebook, that she understands some people may not like the holiday or can’t afford to hand out candy, and that is “totally fine.”
And that some people want to smash pumpkins and throw eggs, but they are the “exception, not the rule.”
“Let’s stop making kids feel bad for wanting to dress up like their heroes one night a year. If they come to your door, just give them the candy bar!” she finished her post.
But there was one asterisk to the mom’s post of joy and inclusivity: Do not ring her doorbell at midnight and wake up her kid. If you do, “you’re getting a toothbrush.”
