Ben Affleck’s Friends Reportedly Concerned ‘He Won’t Be Able To Stop’ Drinking Again

The same day he opened up about his recovery journey, Ben Affleck “slipped up.”

As we previously reported, the 47-year-old was caught struggling to walk after leaving a hotel in West Hollywood for the UNICEF Masquerade Ball. While it was initially unclear to tell for sure whether or not he was intoxicated, he admitted the following day that he “slipped” when photogs caught up with him outside Jennifer Garner‘s home.

An eyewitness revealed (below) to Us Weekly seeing the father of three with friends at the charity event on Saturday:

“He was with a group of friends, laughing and drinking. There was an open bar.”

A second insider chimed in, voicing concern on behalf of those close to Affleck:

“The people who care about Ben know where this is headed. If he doesn’t get help, he won’t be able to stop.”

Understandably, the mother of his children isn’t too thrilled either. An insider previously told Us the 13 Going On 30 star is “upset” over her ex’s most recent shenanigans “but always supportive.” A second source told the outlet the Good Will Hunting actor’s sober coach “came over earlier” to his ex-wife’s home that day.

It was just over a year ago that the mom of three staged an intervention for the Batman star before he entered a rehabilitation facility to receive treatment. Ben has previously been through rehab three times — in 2001, 2017, and 2018 — and frequents Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

He’s lucky to have her!

Though he appeared surprisingly optimistic the following day, the Academy Award recipient shrugged while admitting to his wrongdoing:

“Well, you know, it happens. I slipped, but I’m not going to let it derail me. … Thank you very much, guys.”

While promoting an organization on Instagram which works with homeless individuals earlier before his slip up, he wrote:

“But let’s be serious for a moment and talk about something that is actually important. I have been in recovery for over a year and part of that is helping out others. @themidnightmission is an incredible organization that helps those in need with housing, training, development and recovery. I’m making a donation today because there are people battling addiction every day that don’t have the resources and need help.”

Here’s hoping Ben can continue to stay on track with the help and support of those who care!!
