To the “The Masked Singer” fans who thought Fox couldn’t make the show anymore bizarre, the network just said, “Hold my Duff Beer.”
In a new promo for Season 2 of the celebrity singing competition, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Homer Simpson makes a special appearance as the unmasked Panda contestant.
“They’re making every Fox star do this,” the “Simpsons” character says, as panelists Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger freak out over his unveiling. “Also, the suit was ripped in the butt when I got it.”
Of course, we all know Homer he’s not the real celeb behind the Panda mask — whose identity will be revealed in due time on the show itself — but we have to admit this cross-promotion between “The Masked Singer” and “The Simpsons” is pretty adorable.
Now here’s what we do know about the 16 contestants who are actually competing on Season 2: According to Fox, “collectively, all of the Season Two undercover celebrities have amassed 69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 Grammy Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers and two have been named Time magazine’s Most Influential People.”
“The Masked Singer” Season 2 premieres with a two-hour episode on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on Fox. Season 31 of “The Simpsons” premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8/7c also on Fox, obviously.
