Here’s What We Know About Disney+ Following Free Pilot Launch In Holland

Disney+ has launched in the form of a free pilot in Holland with several films available for viewing.

The service, which will release in full after November 12 with a cost of $6.99, was looked into by The Verge‘s Thomas Ricker, who says he signed up and downloaded the app for Android, iOS and Apple TV before streaming a few of the movies on there.

According to his findings, Disney+ isn’t nearly on Netflix’s level as it pertains to the amount of available content, which was to be expected. It’s more populated than Apple TV+, however.

On the plus side, the apps are pretty easy to navigate and it’s not difficult to find stuff. And, contrary to prior reports that the service would launch with just four Marvel titles in November, the Dutch version has 18 such titles and is only missing Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel, something possibly due to regional licensing agreements.

The titles currently available are listed below:

Avengers

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers: Infinity War

Iron Man

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 3

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2

Black Panther

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: Civil War

Thor

Thor: The Dark World

Thor: Ragnarok

Ant-Man

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Doctor Strange

All of the Star Wars titles are available for viewing, from Episode I to VIII, as well as specials, series and Lego shorts. The Mandalorian, though, wasn’t on there at the time.

Disney+ features 4K Ultra HD and HDR sections boasting 17 titles from the Avengers and Star Wars franchises yet the search function doesn’t work with terms like “4K,” “HDR” or “Ultra HD” and you have to use the apps to see said titles identified as 4K as the browser version doesn’t say so once they’re clicked. The help page says the service supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos.

The 4K titles currently available are:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Avengers: Infinity War

Black Panther

Captain America: The Winter Solider

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: The First Avenger

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Free Solo

Aladdin

Ralph Breaks The Internet

Mary Poppins Returns

A Wrinkle in Time

Christopher Robin

The Prince Diaries

The Prince Diaries 2

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

PREVIOUSLY: Robert Pattinson and Joaquin Phoenix Won’t Get To Clash As Batman & Joker

You could ignore the lists and just search for whatever you want by title, character or genre if you’d rather do that.

The apps were all bug-free and there was no buffering, although that would probably be contingent on internet speed. Ricker says he was also able to stream five videos on three devices and two web browsers at the same time even the limit is supposed to be four.

The Dutch pilot is free until November 12 and, according to a help page within the Disney+ app, the service will offer over 7,500 television episodes and over 500 movies in its first year.
