CRYSTAL PALACE star Ryan Inniss has incredibly been accused of biting a West Ham player.
Defender Inniss, 24, could face a lengthy ban after allegedly sinking his teeth into 18-year-old Irons academy ace Reece Hannam.
Inniss joined League Two Newport County on a season-long loan last month and was sent off in injury time of last night's 5-4 EFL Trophy defeat by West Ham Under-21s after coming on as a sub.
Newport boss Michael Flynn said: "Their player said he got bitten, so I’ll have a look at that and find out what happened.
"If he has, it’s inexcusable and I won’t be fighting his corner."
Eagles centre-back Inniss came on as a sub and was shown a straight red card – the second of his career – which means an automatic three-match ban.
The FA can increase sanctions. The governing body have until 1pm today to inform Newport if they are considering a longer ban.
West Ham are not expected to push for further sanctions, say the Evening Standard.
Newport are the ninth club Inniss has been loaned to during his Palace career.
He made one senior appearance for the Eagles, a Carabao Cup win over Swansea last year.
Left-back Hannam signed a two-year scholarship with the academy in the summer of 2017.
Infamous biter Luis Saurez was banned for 10 games when he chomped on Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic back in 2013.
The former Liverpool striker then had a nibble on Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay's clash against Italy in the 2014 World Cup.
