Taylor Swift’s relationship with Joe Alwyn is ‘not up for discussion’

Taylor Swift says her relationship with Joe Alwyn is ‘not up for discussion’ to keep her life feeling ‘manageable’

They were first spotted publicly in May 2017, after reportedly secretly dating from the Fall the year before.

And ever since then, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have continued to keep their relationship incredibly private.

The 29-year-old Lover singer touched on why this was the case while speaking to The Guardian Saturday morning, detailing its delicate nature and setting boundaries.

‘I’ve learned that if I do [speak about my relationship], people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,’ she explained while ‘laughing at the attempt of the stealthy angle’, the interviewer added.

‘If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it – but it’s just that it goes out into the world.’

She continued: ‘That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.’

Taylor’s private romance with Joe is her first in a long time, she’s previously dated and openly talked about past boyfriends including, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, and Tom Hiddleston.

Taylor dated Harry on-and-off primarily between November 2012 – January 2013, Calvin, for 15 months between February 2015 – June 2016, and Tom, June 2016 – September 2016.

And while she politely declined to speak about her current long-term relationship, there have been many hints and tributes to Joe in her newly released Lover album.

Song, Cruel Summer, which she penned in her diary at the time of 2016 as being ‘like the apocalypse,’ is around the time she secretly began dating the UK native – following her whirlwind romance with Tom Hiddleston.

‘Joe is really one of a kind.’

‘Keeping it private from the beginning really helped their relationship. They were able to get to know each other in peace.’
