The name’s … “No Time To Die.”
MGM revealed the title of the 25th film in the James Bond franchise Tuesday in a short video, with dapper Daniel Craig donning the iconic tuxedo for the fifth and likely final time.
Like 2015’s “Spectre,” “No Time To Die” does not borrow its name from any Bond novels or short stories by Ian Fleming or any recent author. And it also has an entirely original plot.
That storyline, however, has proven a worse villain than Jaws, Blofeld and Goldfinger combined.
When filming commenced in April, a source told Page Six, “They don’t have a script, there’s no title, it is nearly five years since the last Bond. It starts with a retired Bond living in wedded bliss, but the rest of the script is still being worked over.”
Reportedly unhappy with the way things were going, Craig brought aboard Emmy nominee Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) to punch up Scott Z. Burns, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade’s dialogue. The plot is said to involve Bond jumping back into the fray to help rescue a scientist. He eventually encounters a new villain, played by Oscar winner Rami Malek.
Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes will return. And Page Six reports that Grace Jones will make a cameo appearance, although likely not as her “A View To A Kill” femme fatale, May Day.
“No Time To Die” hits theaters April 8, 2020.
