Sydney Leroux has a special message for moms during World Breastfeeding Week — you do you.
The mom shared a photo of herself and her newborn along with a caption that aimed to take the pressure off nursing mothers.
“I think it’s so important to recognize that there’s no comparison between someone that breastfeeds their child and someone who doesn’t because we are all just trying to do the best we can,” the U.S. soccer player wrote.
Leroux added that she was thankful that she was able to feed her children with her body but said she hates the pressure that is placed on moms and if breastfeeding is not for you, it’s OK.
“If it’s not for you then it’s not for you and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about that. At the end of the day when you feed your baby with love, you feed your baby the best way possible,” the 29-year-old mom wrote.

It’s World Breastfeeding Week and I think it’s so important to recognize that there’s no comparison between someone that breastfeeds their child and someone who doesn’t because we are all just trying to do the best we can. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to feed my children with my body but I hate the stress and the pressure placed upon us. As if we don’t have enough of that already. If it’s not for you then it’s not for you and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about that. At the end of the day when you feed your baby with love, you feed your baby the best way possible.

Leroux welcomed her second child with her long time partner, fellow U.S. soccer player Dom Dwyer, in late June.
The two announced Roux James’ birth on social media.
“Our sweet girl came into the world kicking and screaming (just like her parents),” Leroux wrote.
Leroux, a U.S. national team member, plays professionally for the Orlando Pride. She was part of the 2015 World Cup champion U.S. team, and she was the youngest player on the Olympic gold medal-winning team at the 2012 London Games.
“Congrats, Syd! We love you and love Roux James so much already!” the U.S. Women’s National Team commented.
