Olivia Wilde thanks strangers on Twitter for helping her with son’s major temper tantrum: ‘I’m so moved by this simple act of kindness’
Every mom has overwhelming moments, and Olivia Wilde was one of them recently.
The actress-turned-director, 35, relied on the kindness of strangers a few days ago when she found herself at wit’s end while one of her children had a very public ‘level 10, defcon 1’ meltdown at a restaurant.
Wilde took to Twitter to recount the story, and made sure to give heartfelt thanks to the good Samaritans who came to her aide.
Devoted mommy: Olivia Wilde relied on the kindness of strangers a few days ago when she found herself at wit’s end while her son Otis had a meltdown at a restaurant; here they are seen in LA in March
‘Couple days ago my kid was having a level 10, defcon 1, couldn’t-control-his-body meltdown at a restaurant. It happens. Poor guy was hungry as hell and overwhelmed. I was holding four bags and my 2 yr old. It was chaos,’ Olivia tweeted.
Wilde has two children with her fiance, actor Jason Sudeikis: Otis, 5, and Daisy, 2.
‘The place was packed and we were very much on display,’ Wilde continued. ‘I was in way over my head. I stayed calm but I was kind of crumbling inside. In the midst of the madness, 2 strangers, a young man and woman, approached and asked if they could help.’
She added: ‘I swallowed my pride and said yes, please, and they walked with us, placed my stuff into my trunk, and even put my daughter in her car seat, while I tried to soothe my son. I thanked them and they said, “hey no problem. We all have days like this.”‘

A sincere message: ‘I’m so moved by this simple act of kindness,’ Wilde wrote
‘I’m so moved by this simple act of kindness. Their generosity profoundly effected my (and my kids’) reality that day. I can’t wait to do this for someone else. Humans are good. We can’t forget that. ❤️’ Olivia concluded.
Olivia has been frank and open about parenting her children, for example talking on live television about the time she and husband Jason, 45, took Otis on Space Mountain at Disneyland when he was just 4, and probably too young for the attraction.
Wilde recently scored a big hit with her directorial debut Booksmart, which starred Beanie Feldstein and also featured her husband.
She is continuing to act as well, though, as she is currently filming the upcoming movie The Ballad Of Richard Jewell opposite Jon Hamm.
