Luke Voit left Tuesday’s game against the Diamondbacks after the fourth inning.
The Yankees first baseman was hit by a breaking ball in the first, but didn’t appear to have any issues. Some replays showed Voit perhaps wincing after a third-inning strikeout.
He was replaced in the lineup by Tyler Wade, recently recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, who came in to play third base, while Gio Urshela moved to third. Prior to the game, DJ LeMahieu said his tight groin was fine and he could play, but Aaron Boone wanted to be cautious with the injury after LeMahieu sat Sunday’s game in Boston.
Voit missed seven games while on the 10-day injured list with an abdomen strain suffered last month while the team was playing the Red Sox in London.
The Yankees currently have 12 players on the IL and have had 23 players spend time there- with 26 stints in total.
