Scarlett Moffatt EXCLUSIVE: TV Star BLOCKS Instagram boutique that she took £150 skirt from and DELETES Twitter after online backlash
Scarlett Moffatt was accused of ‘taking advantage and ghosting’ after begging an online start-up for a bespoke £150 skirt and then failing to deliver pre-agreed social media posts.
And now, as visible in screenshots obtained exclusively by MailOnline, following online backlash the former GoggleBox star, 28, has BLOCKED MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram after sending swiftly-deleted late-night direct messages.
Scarlett has also deleted her Twitter account after appearing to block fans who criticised her treatment of the women’s clothing boutique.
EXCLUSIVE: As visible in screenshots obtained by MailOnline, following online backlash, Scarlett Moffatt, 28, has BLOCKED MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram after sending swiftly-deleted late-night direct messages
As unveiled by MailOnline on Monday afternoon, Scarlett approached MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram on 31 May to ask for a customised version of their signature TULLE skirt with crystal stars, to wear for the first ever Virgin Atlantic Pride flight to New York on 28 June, in return for ‘lots of posts.’
However, after receiving a bespoke pink version of the garment over three weeks ago (on Friday 21 June), Scarlett – who didn’t wear the skirt to the Pride event – has failed to share any images of the skirt online, as promised, and has ignored multiple messages from the heartbroken owner of the women’s clothing boutique.
And late on Monday evening, following a public outcry, Scarlett finally responded to the owner of MySuitcase Boutique, Michaela Liu, 27 – only to swiftly delete the four messages and then BLOCK the boutique on Instagram.
Michaela told MailOnline: ‘I didn’t want to read the messages because it was close to midnight and I wanted to be in the right frame of mind to reply.

Four notifications: Michaela told MailOnline: ‘I didn’t want to read the messages because it was close to midnight and I wanted to be in the right frame of mind to reply’
Disappeared: ‘And then, when I looked on Tuesday morning, the messages were gone, so I messaged her asking why they were no longer visible. And that’s when I realised she’d blocked me’ explained Michaela

‘And then, when I looked on Tuesday morning, the messages were gone, so I messaged her asking why they were no longer visible. And that’s when I realised she’d blocked me.’
MailOnline has contacted Scarlett Moffatt’s representatives for comment.
As well as blocking MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram, Scarlett has also deleted her Twitter account.
After tweeting a photo of MailOnline’s exclusive article unveiling what the former Queen of The Jungle had done, one user tagged Scarlett and added: ‘oh dear didn’t have you down as a thief.’
His tweet was responded to by another irked Twitter user, who shared a screenshot proving she’d been blocked by Scarlett after calling her out, and wrote: ‘Don’t, you’ll get blocked.’
Blocked: Prior to deleting her Twitter, Scarlett appeared to block Twitter users who criticised her treatment of MySuitcase Boutique
Blocked: The blocked Twitter user had slammed Scarlett over her actions, urging her to ‘remember where she came from!’
Backlash: Elsewhere on Twitter, prior to deleting her account, Scarlett had been labelled as ‘disgusting’ and ‘ungrateful’ for how she’d treated MySuitcase Boutique
The blocked user had tweeted the star: ‘@ScarlettMoffatt should be ashamed of yourself asking small businesses for freebies and then not giving them the credit or exposure they deserve, remember where you came from!’
Elsewhere on Twitter, prior to deleting her account, Scarlett had been labelled as ‘disgusting’ and ‘ungrateful’ for how she’d treated MySuitcase Boutique.
One user tweeted: You are an absolute disgrace Scarlett! I saw the article about you in the Daily Mail today! Why are you thanking these companies but completing ignoring MySuitcase Boutique. Absolutely disgusting and ungrateful behaviour by a Z lister!’
Someone else wrote: ‘your (sic) bang out of order towards My suitcase boutique u look like a t**t now… Busted!!’
With her Twitter account deleted, critics of Scarlett’s actions took to Instagram and flooded the comments section of recent posts with calls for her to ‘do the right thing.’
Instagram reaction: With her Twitter account deleted, Scarlett’s critics took to Instagram and flooded the comments section of recent posts with calls for her to ‘do the right thing.’
‘How sad you beg for a skirt then don’t even post about it!’ raged one Instagrammer, with another noting: ‘Strange that you can post this but can’t work out how to reply to the poor lady that made you a skirt.’
‘Just read the article on the daily mail. I feel really sorry for the small business owner, I hope you return the skirt, not great PR for you, and not a nice way to treat other people, hope you sort it’ urged someone else.
‘@scarlettmoffatt for everyone’s sake, post the skirt @mysuitcaseboutique made you’ begged one Instagram user, with another demanding: ‘Give the skirt back to @mysuitcaseboutique. Do the right thing!’
Shocked: Instagrammers slammed the Gogglebox star for her treatment of MySuitcase Boutique and demanded she ‘fix’ the situation
One furious follower raged: ‘Maybe post about the skirt? Absolutely rude and disgusting behaviour,’ and someone else simply wrote: ‘freeloader.’
‘I’d be mortified to be so treacherous as to tell blatant lies to a small business owner to get something for free. I’m massively embarrassed for you. Return the skirt. Pay for the stuff you want. Stop freeloading. Stop using people. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. @mysuitcaseboutique,’ slammed another Instagrammer.
‘You get paid per episode what most of us earn all year and then you ask for free clothes?? Reading that story about the skirt has made me sick to my stomach. Don’t you realise how lucky you are?’ fumed someone else.
‘I think it’s terrible that poor girl worked so hard to get the skirt ready for your event and you blank all messages and don’t even post pictures of it. Shocking. Didn’t think you was like that. Pay the girl her money at least!!!!’ added another Instagram user.

Exclusive: The star approached MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram for a skirt to wear for the Virgin Atlantic Pride flight to New York on 28 June, in return for ‘lots of posts’
Speaking to MailOnline earlier this week, the owner of MySuitcase Boutique, Michaela Liu branded Scarlett as having ‘taken advantage’ of her and slammed the reality star for being ‘rude and disrespectful.’
Michaela told MailOnline: ‘I work a full time job as well as run a business paying for all the stock out of my own money, working every hour under the sun. I do everything on my own.
‘As a clothing brand, I rely on collaborations with Instagram influencers to get my business noticed, as well as word of mouth and great customer feedback.
‘I was approached on Instagram by Scarlett Moffatt asking me if I do collaborations. I couldn’t believe it when she messaged me, I obviously would never turn down this opportunity working with Queen of the jungle!
‘I was over the moon and so surprised that she knew about my online boutique! Scarlett has 2 million followers, the chance that potentially 2 million people knowing about my start up business was crazy!
‘We spoke via direct message on Instagram and she described exactly what she wanted…our signature TULLE skirt with crystal stars in black, for a huge event she was hosting – the first ever Virigin Atlantic pride flight to New York.
‘I was so excited that out of all the brands/designers, Scarlett chose my business to collaborate with for an outfit for this amazing event!
‘We exchange messages and she responded almost immediately every time I messaged her, which was great because I could arrange exactly what she wanted.
‘She told me about she specifically wanted our signature tulle skirt in black because it would work perfectly with a hat she’d had made – also with stars on – and promised “lots of posts” in return.
Michaela explained to MailOnline that, despite suffering with Mumps (a viral disease), she worked tirelessly to meet Scarlett’s deadline and specific requests, after the star first approached MySuitcase Boutique on May 31.
She said: ‘I didn’t have any black skirts in stock, but Scarlett was more than happy when I suggested that I could customise the pink version skirt of the skirt especially for her.
‘I don’t actually sell the skirt in this colour with the added stars, but I was happy to make a bespoke for Scarlett for her major event, and went out of my way to buy extra stars to make it even more amazing!
‘With the stars being diamante crystal stars, they aren’t cheap and aren’t easy to place on. But, in the short space of time I had, and working a full-time job, I stayed up late each night for days on end until the skirt was complete.
‘With little time to make the skirt and have it sent in time (she told me it was needed for a particular date – 24th June), I did everything I could to get the skirt to her in time, even while suffering with mumps, I didn’t want to let her down!
‘Once I’d sent the skirt to her by recorded delivery, I kept checking Instagram each day with excitement to see her in the skirts!’
Bespoke: Scarlett was sent a bespoke pink version of this star-embellished tulle skirt by MySuitcase Boutique
Delivered: However, after receiving the garment on Friday 21 June, Scarlett – who didn’t wear the skirt to the Pride event – has failed to share any images of the skirt online, as promised
Michaela admitted to MailOnline that she was left utterly devastated when she realised the star didn’t wear the skirt for New York Pride.
She said: ‘I sent a little message to her asking if she could do a post when she received the skirt in the gorgeous boxes they come in, as a little added promotion, but I didn’t get a response to that – I assumed she just wanted to do a post wearing the skirt.
‘I remember feeling gutted and deflated and very confused when I saw Scarlett wearing the hat she’d described to me, but wearing a different outfit – with no sign of the skirt.
‘I decided to be patient, but my nerves were gone, it could have been the first day of the event and she was saving the skirt for the special day? With a busy girl like her, I was sure she just didn’t get round to wearing it…
‘And then a few days later, I saw her Instagram story, which showed on the plane home from New York Pride – again, not wearing the skirt!’
Ghosted: Scarlett has also ignored multiple messages from the owner of the online start-up
Distressed: Michaela confessed that her anxiety levels grew as days passed by and Scarlett still failed to post about the skirt she’d received, and continued to ignore all messages
No response: ‘Already feeling heartbroken about the promised collaboration, my anxiety grew when I waited for her reply, asking if she’d managed to wear the skirt’ confessed Michaela
Concerned that Scarlett hadn’t worn the £150 from MySuitcase Boutique to the event she said she would, Michaela sent her a message to find out what had happened.
‘I sent Scarlett a mesaage on Instagram, because that was the only form of communication I had with her.
‘I asked if she’d managed to wear the skirt, because sometimes bloggers wear outfits but save posting the photo for another day – I would have been happy to wait.
‘She might be saving it for another event? Or there could have been an issue with the skirt? I was making so many excuses in my head for Scarlett, but all I needed was a response as I was willing to be so understanding.’
Another approach: Taking another approach, Michaela commented publicly on Scarlett’s Instagram account in a bid to get a response from the star
Appealing for a response: Michaela explained: ‘I was hoping this may get a quicker response, because I am sure she wouldn’t want her fans seeing what she had done’
Michaela confessed that her anxiety levels grew as days passed by and Scarlett still failed to post about the skirt she’d received, and continued to ignore all of her messages from MySuitcase boutique’s Instagram account.
‘Already feeling heartbroken about the promised collaboration, my anxiety grew when I waited for her reply, asking if she’d managed to wear the skirt.
‘I just didn’t understand how she was taking so long to reply, when she was messaging me straight away when we were discussing sending the skirt. Four days later with still no response I decided to message again, but again I got nothing.
‘I’ve watched her Instagram each day since I sent my last message, seeing her posting on her stories, seeing her sat at home watching Love Island and being ‘active 1 minute ago’.
‘Maybe she has millions if messages from followers so I remained patient, yet again, but I couldn’t help but feel sick and cheated.
Spotted: Scarlett had requested for a version of the MySuitcase Boutique skirt to be sent to her after seeing it elsewhere on Instagram (pictured on Olivia Buckland)
‘My anxiety grew and I decided to message her again, this time I managed to catch her while she was active on Instagram. Surely, THAT would make her see I have messaged her, but again I was ignored.
‘I messaged her showing my understanding to her busy lifestyle but with hope she would understand that I am a small business and I was concerned she was not replying and there was no sign of the promised post.’
Taking another approach, Michaela commented publicly on Scarlett’s Instagram account in a bid to get a response from the star.
‘I decided to comment on her last post on Instagram, explaining the situation and asking for a response, because I was feeling really worried.
‘I was hoping this may get a quicker response, because I am sure she wouldn’t want her fans seeing what she had done, and maybe it would spur her on to reply back to me with an apology for her delayed response.
‘At this point, I am raging, it’s been another five days since my last message to her and I am running out of ways to contact her.
Ignored: ‘At this point, I am raging, it’s been another five days since my last message to her and I am running out of ways to contact her’ said Michaela
‘I feel like she has taken advantage of a start-up business. All I wanted was a response and I would have immediately feel reassured.
‘Surely if you tell someone you are going to do something, and it turns out you can’t fulfil the promise, a genuine person would explain to the other person what had happened? I know I would!
‘If she didn’t like it, I could arrange for the skirt to be sent back. But at this point I feel utterly ignored and disrepected.
‘I never expected anything like this from Scarlett Moffat. I feel heartbroken! All the work I put into that skirt, all the rushing round I did, even while suffering with mumps.
‘The lengths I went to, to provide a skirt that I don’t even sell! But again, I stayed patient, and tried to justify every situation for Scarlett not posting.’
Awful: ‘I feel like she has taken advantage of a start-up business. All I wanted was a response and I would have immediately feel reassured’ said Michaela
Theft? ‘If she didn’t like it, I could arrange for the skirt to be sent back. But now I feel utterly ignored and disrepected’ continued Michaela
Now furious at the situation, Michaela – who has previously had positive collaborations with the likes of Olivia Buckland and Chelsee Healey as well as top fashion influencers – has branded Scarlett ‘rude and disrespectful’ over the incident.
She fumed: ‘I can’t believe I have been disrespected in this way. How can a big celebrity like her abuse a small business like this? I work so hard and the least Scarlett could do was message me back!
‘Not only did I send the skirt for free, I went out of my way to make sure she had it in time for her event! How rude and disrespectful to have asked for something for free and tell me she will do ‘loads of posts’, yet not deliver as promised.
‘I feel utterly disrespected and mugged off, to have fallen for her promises. It’s been over a month since my last conversation with Scarlett. I think that I have been patient enough, to the point that I now believe I may never see the skirt or promised post.’
Fuming: Now furious at the situation, Michaela has branded Scarlett ‘rude and disrespectful’ over the incident (Scarlett chose to wear this sequinned T-shirt dress to New York Pride)
Not only has Michaela’s fledgling business suffered as a result of the ill-fated ‘collaboration’ with Scarlett, her mental health has suffered too.
She said: ‘I haven’t slept properly with stress, since the start of the first indication that there was never going to be a post about MySuitcase Boutique from Scarlett.
‘This has resulted into the loss of £150, plus £8 for the next day delivery I spent to get it to her on time, (a fraction of the wage Scarlett must be earning).
‘I sought advice from other local, small business brands because I felt so brokenhearted. She chose the most expensive item I have available!’
Distressed: Not only has Michaela’s fledgling business suffered as a result of the ill-fated ‘collaboration’ with Scarlett, her mental health has suffered too
Michaela explained how she feels as though the former Queen of The Jungle simply ‘took advantage’ of her and MySuitcase Boutique as a small start-up.
‘I just didn’t ever expect it from Scarlett Moffatt. I have watched her on GoogleBox and she seemed like a normal girl, just like me, who was trying to make a future for heself.
‘She seemed so lovely and genuine. It became clear to me that she simply took advantage of small businesses by promising a collaboration, but actually had no intention to stick to her word.

Shocked: ‘I have lost confidence in my business since this event and I am totally shocked at how I have been treated by Scarlett’ admitted Michaela
‘I have lost confidence in my business since this event and I am totally shocked at how I have been treated by Scarlett.
‘I’m offended that she approached me for free goods in promise of promotion and hasn’t delivered. It hasn’t put me off wanting to collaborate with anyone, but it has made me think twice about who I work with.
‘There will be procedures put in place to stop this from happening in the future and I will no longer be afraid to speak out about anyone who does this again. I hope all small businesses do the same too!’
