When you’re done picking your players, you might’ve noticed there’s THREE different formations available to you on Dream Team: 3-4-3, 4-3-3 and the classic 4-4-2.
But which one should you go for?
Premier League Fantasy football tips: Which formation should you use?
3-4-3
This legendary, ultra offensive formation was first used by the brilliant Ajax team of the 1970s, and is perhaps the most popular one to pick for fantasy football connoisseurs.
It allows you to pick three strikers and four midfielders, giving you the potential to pick goal-scorers in every position.
So what’s the catch?
Well, we all know how much strikers and midfielders cost on Dream Team.
Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero – both strikers on the game – are the two most-expensive players around this season at £7.5m each, which means forking out for both of them could leave you a little short when you’re looking to buy defenders.
But if you play it right and learn how to hack the system by picking a couple of players who are down as midfielders on the game but actually play further forward in real life – such as Raheem Sterling or Leroy Sane – then this could be the formation that leads you to glory.
4-3-3
Perhaps a little more reserved than it’s gung-ho cousin, the 4-3-3 is the most popular formation in the real world right now.
It took Jurgen Klopp’s side to glory last term, for example.
But what good is it for fantasy football?

While you’re sacrificing a place of one midfielder, you do get to focus more on your four-man back-line, while still keeping the three options in attack.
If you have the knack for picking decent points-scoring defenders, or the players that are good at keeping a clean-sheet, then this is certainly the formation for you.
4-4-2
Boring old 4-4-2, you say?
Before you scoff at us like we’re the next Sam Allardyce, this classic formation really could be the key to your fantasy football success this season.
If you manage to pack your midfield with top quality players (at least three worldies, we reckon) and couple that with a back-line that’s capable of keeping out the goals, then the points will soon be coming your way.
Every season, more midfielders score 200+ points on fantasy football than any other position.
Last season, for example, saw Sadio Mane, Sterling, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne all go beyond the 200-mark.
Couple that with four defenders who are capable of notching goals and assists – such as Liverpool duo Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold – and suddenly you’re top of your mini league.
