Countryfile CANCELLED: ‘Not happy’ Fans outraged as show replaced in scheduling shake-up

Countryfile was set to air at 7pm this evening, with Matt Baker, 41, and team trekking to Bedfordshire for the BBC magazine programme.

Although coverage of the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final was supposed to wrap at 6.35pm, the tennis match carried on until shortly before 7.10pm.

Rodger Federer, 37, and Novak Djokovic, 32, took to centre court and ended up in a show down which lasted over 4 and half hours, with the latter taking the win.

Viewers were anxiously waiting to get their dose of Countryfile and were left riled when the programme didn’t air at all.

As 7pm drew closer, an announcement was shown on the bottom of the screen as the two players took a quick break from proceedings.

The post read: “The news will follow the conclusion of the Men’s Final,” which was supposed to air at 6.35pm.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “As the #Wimbledon final ploughs on, #Countryfile fans gather outside BBC Centre with torches and pitchforks. #BBCTennis.”

Another added: “Just turned on BBC1 to watch #countryfile and there’s some #tennis match on. Oh well..”

A third commented: “WHY IS WIMBLEDON ON AND NOT COUNTRYFILE? THIS IS LIKE CASUALTY LAST WEEK ALL OVER AGAIN AND I AM NOT HAPPY. @BBCCountryfile #countryfile.”

Whilst a fourth said in anticipation of the over run: “Hi @BBCOne don’t even think about delaying #countryfile.”
