Rosie O’Donnell says it was ‘painful’ to feel how much Whoopi Goldberg ‘didn’t like’ her on The View
Rosie O’Donnell, once again, spoke out about how ‘painful’ it was that The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg ‘didn’t like’ her when she returned as a panelist on the ABC talk show from 2014-2015.
‘I have known her for many, many years and always looked up to her. So, I was very surprised at what went down,’ the 57-year-old comedian said on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy on Wednesday.
‘It was really painful to me to feel how much she didn’t like me.’

O’Donnell recalled one particular moment where she interrupted the 63-year-old EGOT champ so they could throw the show to commercial quicker.
‘There was, like, a little brief period where she took a breath or something,’ Rosie explained.
‘And I said, “Listen, we’ll get to that right after this Whoop, we’ll be right back!” And she was not having it. And it was not at all meant as an insult or to take something from her. We’re on a team! Who cares who gets to say, “We’re going to break,” right?’
The 12-time Emmy winner also threw a little shade at Whoopi (born Caryn Johnson) by noting how ‘disengaged’ she used to appear while moderating.

‘There’s a fair characterization to say that before I went on there, she was not that interested in The View,’ O’Donnell said of Goldberg.
‘She wouldn’t talk when there were other guests, she would just sit there.’
Perhaps the power struggle rooted in the fact that Rosie was used to a leadership role having hosted her own NBC-syndicated titular talk show from 1996–2002.
The Elizabeth Warren supporter now thinks she shouldn’t have granted a 15-minute interview to author Ramin Setoodeh, whose tell-all Ladies Who Punch in April sparked long dormant feuds.

O’Donnell came under fire for alleging her working relationship with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck ‘had underlying lesbian undertones’ and admitted to having a’ bit of a crush’ on her in 2006-2007.
Back in May, Goldberg told WWHL host Andy Cohen ‘That’s okay’ after he asked about Rosie telling Setoodeh working with her had been ‘the worst experience I’ve ever had on television.’
‘I didn’t talk to the guy, I didn’t care about the book,’ the Sister Act alum stated on the boozy Bravo talk show.
‘Because what happens for me at work is not for everybody – it’s not their business.’
