Rylan Clark-Neal looks completely unrecognisable as he posts a 10-year old throwback picture of himself during a sunshine break in Ibiza

He found national fame after gracing the X Factor stage in 2012 at the tender age of 23.

And Rylan Clark-Neal, who has since gone on to become a household name, decided to pay tribute to his younger years by posting a throwback picture of himself during an Ibiza getaway in 2009 on Saturday.

Taking to Instagram, the TV presenter, 30, wrote: ‘Ten years ago me just did his first live set at @mamboibiza. What an honour. 2009-2019.’

The former model looked almost unrecognisable as he shared a snap of his younger self dressed in a low-cut blue T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

Sweeping his blonde locks back into a side quiff and sporting a slight ginger goatee down his chin, Rylan appeared to be missing his trademark beard and gleaming white teeth.

Fans immediately rushed to the social media platform to share their thoughts on Rylan before his TV transformation.

One user, broadhurst_susan, wrote: ‘Omg Ryan you look gorge with that blonde hair.’

Rylan, who hit stardom after taking to the stage at the O2 arena to perform a rendition of Des’ree’s Kissing You, has since gone on to win Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and become a presenter on This Morning.

Earlier this year, the TV personality also launched his radio career after landing a Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2. 

In an interview with The Guardian, Rylan admitted that he ‘played a character’ during his time on the X Factor in an effort to succeed.

He told the publication: ‘I played a character when I was on there. I knew I had to be the gay stereotype that was on the front of the papers every day.

‘And I did my job well. I played the game.’

He added: ‘I sold my soul. I went on X Factor and sold my soul … to the beast.’

Last week, Rylan received praise from the This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, 59, for making his wife Ruth Langsford, 59, laugh for the first time in ten days.

Ruth recently told fans she would be taking time off from presenting duties to grieve for her sister Julia, 62, who passed away on June 20 following  a ‘very long illness’.

During the show Eamonn said: ‘I lost my wife for two hours and twenty minutes yesterday talking to this one… you know what you made her laugh for the first time in ten days.’ 

He added: Eamonn added: ‘Ruth wants to say to all of you, particularly the production team who works here, she says she’s grateful for all of the messages. She reads them all… he’s chief counsellor.’
