UFC star Macy Chiasson narrowly escapes after crane collapses on her apartment in deadly accident

UFC star Macy Chiasson narrowly escaped with her life after a deadly crane collapse smashed her apartment block and killed one of her neighbours.

Five other people were injured as the crane tumbled down in a sudden thunderstorm in Dallas, Austin on Sunday, crashing into the nearby building and nearby parking garage.

Undefeated Chiasson, 27, was inside her home when she heard what sounded like “a little bit of construction” before a loud boom.

The Ultimate Fighter 28 winner told TMZ Sports: “Once I heard that, I called my dog. I said, 'T, we've got to go.’

“I've completely lost everything.”

The grappler only had time to grab her phone and dog’s leash before darting out of the building.

As the air turned pitch black through the debris and dust, she soon discovered a number of other tenants in the lobby.

She said: “I saw this lady in a window, and she was just bleeding and shaking and crying, and when I looked past her, there was no apartment there.”

Chiasson had moved to Dallas in order to train at Fortis MMA but is now preparing to head back to her hometown of New Orleans.

She also thanked UFC and sponsors Reebok for quickly sending her clothing after losing her possessions in the devastating accident.

A severe weather warning was issued prior to the storm that saw wind levels of up to 80mph recorded.

An investigation is now underway to discover the cause of collapse with the company that operated the crane being cited by OSHA for 18 safety violations over the past decade.

Chiasson picked up her fifth straight victory in the Octagon last month with a second-round TKO of Sara Moras.

She has now filed a lawsuit against the apartment building and the company that operated the crane.
