PAUL POGBA must demand a transfer to force through his dream move to Real Madrid.

The French World Cup winner has made it clear to Manchester United that he wants to join his hero Zinedine Zidane.

And Real boss Zidane has told the midfielder it has to be now or never as, like Old Trafford chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he starts his own rebuild.

But United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward says he does not want Pogba, 26, to leave.

He believes his sale would further damage the club’s image following the nightmare end to the season that cost them a Champions League spot for next season.

United’s standing as the biggest club in the world would, Woodward believes, be affected if they let go of one of the globe’s biggest stars.

Woodward knows Solskjaer is prepared to let the £120million-rated star go to the Bernabeu.

The Norwegian initially said he wanted to create a new team around Pogba.

Now he knows as well as anyone, including head honcho Woodward, that United’s £89m record buy wants out.

And he does not want to go into his first full season in charge — with his own position already under fierce scrutiny — relying on a player who does not want to be there.

Solskjaer has lined up the £12m capture of Swansea’s Dan James and is targeting several signings to get United back into the Prem’s top four.

Woodward is determined to block any approach for Pogba, so the only way out is to demand a move.

LUKE SHAW has reportedly been left out of England's Nations League squad because he pulled out of the Euro qualifiers with Montenegro and Czech Republic.

The 23-year-old bagged the Man Utd player-of-the-year award but it was still not enough to force his way into Gareth Southgate's plans.

Leicester's Ben Chilwell and Tottenham's Danny Rose are the left-backs of choice and Southgate reacted bluntly when asked whether omitting Shaw was tough.

He said: “No, I think Ben Chilwell and Danny Rose have been excellent, so at the moment they're ahead [of Shaw] and they've played particularly well for us.”

But the England boss did not stop there and seemed to aim a sly dig at the former Southampton man who was criticised in March for pulling out of England's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Montenegro and Czech Republic.

Southgate said: “They've been completely committed to the England shirt over the last period of time.

“They're two very good players so there's high competition for places in lots of positions, but one in particular we're blessed with really good options.”

JOSE MOURINHO has vowed to return to management in the summer as the Special One took a swipe at former club Manchester United.

The 56-year-old has been without a job since being sacked by the Red Devils in December, and has already rejected three approaches from clubs.

Speaking of United, Mourinho said: “It's difficult for me to talk about Manchester.

“I can't talk about them in the same joy and freedom as I talk about other clubs.”
