Kate Middleton and Prince William's Road from College Sweethearts to Royal Family of 5

Prince William and Kate Middleton met as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland – and posed together for this sweet photo at their 2005 graduation.

The couple announced their engagement to the world in November 2010, shortly after William popped the question during a trip to Kenya – with the sapphire and diamond engagement ring previously worn by his mother, Princess Diana.

Here come the royal bride and groom! Prince William and Kate tied the knot in a fairy tale wedding on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London.

On December 3, 2012, it was announced that Kate and William were expanding their family. The pregnancy announcement was made earlier than usual as she had been admitted to the hospital suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness.

And then there were three! Prince George arrived on July 22, 2013 – and the world got their first glimpse of the royal baby the following day, when the couple posed outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London before heading home.

A family photo taken shortly after George’s arrival included the family dog, Lupo.

The royal family celebrated their new addition with Prince George’s christening at the Chapel Royal in St. James’ Palace in October 2013. The little prince’s chubby cheeks were already on full display.

Prince George joined his parents for his first-ever tour in April 2014, when the family headed to New Zealand and Australia. Of course, he stole the show everywhere they went!

A baby girl! Princess Charlotte joined the family on May 2, 2015.

Prince George made sure to check on his little sister at her July 2015 christening, standing on his tip toes to peek into her carriage.

Princess Charlotte showed off her royal smile in a candid family photo released in October 2015.

Princess Charlotte made her royal tour debut when the family headed to Canada in Sept. 2016. They arrived in perfectly coordinated blue outfits.

George and Charlotte had plenty of fun in North America, joining their parents at a party for military families where they were delighted by bubbles and balloons.

The family of four enjoyed the Trooping the Colour celebrations in June 2017 from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The fab four was out on tour again in July 2017, this time visiting Poland and Germany.

An official portrait of the foursome in coordinated light blue ensembles served as their 2017 Christmas card.

Growing again! Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018, officially making the Cambridges a family of five.

Although little Louis stayed home, the rest of the family was all smiles for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s May 2018 wedding.

Prince Louis’ christening in July 2018 served as the first outing for the Cambridges as a family of five.

Kate and Prince William opted for a casual portrait featuring their three children enjoying the outdoors as their 2018 Christmas card.
