Despite probably having less time for each other with their family now expanded, James reveals he and Victoria ‘feel closer’ to one another even with a larger brood.
He explained: ‘With three children, if you’re not a team you’d have no chance.’
James is certainly a hands-on father and was right beside Victoria as she delivered Hugo in the birthing pool.
The actor was on-hand to catch Hugo, who weighed 7lb 11oz, and admits he got very ‘emotional’ after being the first to hold the newborn.
Victoria recalled of the happy memory: ‘We both sat there sobbing with happiness, holding him in the birthing pool.’
With the birthing experience fresh in his mind, James is able to offer advice to his EastEnders co-star and on-screen wife Lacey Turner, who recently announced she is pregnant with her first child.
Expressing his support for the first-time mum-to-be, James said: ‘I’m always there for Lacey. I was over the moon for her and Matt when she told me she was pregnant.’
