Tottenham joy but Pochettino faces nightmare against Ajax with Kane, Son and Sissoko among stars ruled out of first leg

MAURICIO POCHETTINO'S joy at at qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals was quickly given a quick dose of reality.

The Tottenham boss will be without Son Heung-min, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane for the semi-final against Ajax, with the first leg on April 30.

Spurs are hoping to reach their first ever European Cup final, but they need to overcome the fast-rising Dutch, who have knocked out Real Madrid and Juventus so far this season.

Son, 26, the South Korean hero of the incredible tie against Manchester City, was booked for a rough tackle after 48 minutes.

And he will miss the first leg of the semi at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There was reprieve for Toby Alderweireld, 30, who played the full 90 minutes and Eric Lamela, 27, who was injured anyway, because they now have their yellow cards wiped out now that they've reached the semi-final stage.

The pair were, like Son, one yellow away from suspension.

YELLOWS WIPED OUT

Elsewhere there was an injury picked up for Sissoko, 29, after he appeared to pick up a muscular injury in his leg, which is expected to be looked at my medical staff today.

Sissoko's injury last night meant Pochettino had to change the side's shape from a pressing 4-4-2 to a more pragmatic 4-3-2-1.

And star striker Kane, 25, is touch and go to play again this season with an ankle injury he picked up in Spurs' first leg against City.

It is the second time the 24-goal forward has had a spell on the sidelines, but his absence has been tempered by bringing Son into the frame.

But with the Korean now out, Pochettino will have to shuffle his pack once again to deal with the threat of Ajax.
