The comedian, who has been a judge on BGT for the past eight seasons, boasted that the talent show is a feel-good programme that encourages people to get up and give performing on stage a try.
He went on to compare BGT to the X Factor, saying that it does not give false hope to aspiring singers with big dreams and expectations of their careers.

The music mogul, 58, looked mortified by the gag and furiously told David that he had ‘crossed the line’.
‘Good!’ the Little Britain star hit back, before a giggling Amanda said: ‘David, Christopher’s upstairs,’ referring to her husband Chris Hughes.
Simon – who is in a relationship with long-time partner Lauren Silverman – then seethed: ‘You really are a smutty little man, aren’t you?’
He then ordered David to ‘get out’, though the children’s author didn’t seem to mind, retorting: ‘Good, because I’ve got dinner with Russell Crowe, anyway.’
