A father’s strongly worded email to his daughter that sees him convincing her not to purchase a Peloton bike has gone viral as people respond to his hilariously detailed list of reasons that tell her why she shouldn’t purchase the workout equipment.

Twitter user Clare O’Connor, who is originally from Bermuda and now lives in Brooklyn, revealed on April 10, that she had received a very strongly-worded email from her father just minutes after she told her mom that she was interested in buying a Peloton bike.

Clare posted a photo of the email she received from her father, alongside a caption that read: ‘I told my mother I was considering buying a Peloton and…received this email minutes later from my father, who I should really start enlisting if I need to drag someone.’

Hilarious: Brooklyn-based Twitter use Clare O’Connor posted a tweet on Wednesday, April 10, revealing that her father sent her an email after she told her mom she wanted a Peloton bike

Viral: His strongly worded email was aimed at convincing her daughter not to purchase the bike, as he compared it to ‘cocaine’, saying it is bought by people with too much money

Yikes: Clare’s father said the Peloton bike (pictured), which typically costs $2,245 per bike, is a ‘ridiculous amount of money for such a basic concept as riding a stationary bike’

Her father’s assertive email urged Clare not to purchase the bike, one of which typically costs $2,245, for reasons including that he thought it was a waste of money.

Similarly, he thought it was ‘preposterous’ to work out while looking at a screen ‘while some cycling pro broadcasts encouragement’.

He also compared the bikes to ‘cocaine’, as he said they are another way of ‘God’ saying people have too much money to spare.

Trending: Since Clare (pictured) posted the tweet, it has gone viral. The post has garnered over 60,000 likes and more than 2,000 comments

His email read: ‘I have heard of the Peloton, and have concluded that, like the use of cocaine, it’s another way of God saying people have too much money.

‘It is a ridiculous amount of money for such a basic concept as riding a stationary bike.

‘You can ride a bike you own for as long as you want and cut the inevitable boredom factor by listening to podcasts or watching TV or clips of waves on sand,’ he added.

Clare’s dad found the idea of receiving encouragement from someone on a screen while working out was bizarre.

Similarly, he said he hopes his daughter wouldn’t waste her ‘precious’ after-tax income on the bike.

He then said that he thinks the bike just allows people to feel like they are living a better life than the average person.

He said: ‘The idea of looking at a screen while some cycling pro broadcasts encouragement is preposterous.

‘I would implore you not to waste precious after-tax income on this latest attempt to encourage social strivers to show that they live at a more rarified level than the proletariat,’ he added.

Peloton bikes are stationary bikes with a virtual screen that offers different ‘classes’ and workouts to its users.

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Clare said she has taken classes using the bikes at the cycling company’s studio in New York City.

She also said several of her friends have their own Peloton bikes and that they love having their own.

Clare said she has also been sucked in by the company’s over-the-top ads.

She explained: ‘I think because I googled it, I’ve been deluged by ads on Instagram and Facebook, and… well, they almost won this round.’

After the tweet was posted, it garnered over 60,000 likes and more than 2,000 comments, and eventually caught the attention of the bike company.

Peleton’s Twitter account responded to the tweet, saying: ‘We would hire your dad for extreme motivational content tbh.’

Many are praising her father’s determination and strong enthusiasm, while others are stating that her father shows great debating skills.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘Your dad is perhaps the best,’ while another said: ‘I could be best friends with this guy.’

Another person who found the tweet hilarious asked Clare if her dad has a Twitter account of his own, to which she replied: ‘He has a Nokia that’s older than some folks on twitter.’

Others said they want Clare’s dad to give them life advice, with one saying: ‘I seriously want him to weigh in on all of my life decisions moving forward.’

Another said: ‘Your dad is my new life coach,’ and a different user added: ‘I would like to subscribe to your father’s newsletter.’
