EARLIER this week, Kensington Palace confirmed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wouldn't immediately be announcing the birth of their first child.
And the news has led many to believe the Duchess has swayed from royal tradition by opting for a home birth.
But now, royal fans are claiming that if the 37-year-old does decide to have her first born in the comfort of her own home, she wouldn't be breaking from tradition at all.
In fact, the fans have claimed it was actually Princess Diana and Kate Middleton who broke from "the norm" by opting to have their babies at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington.
Taking to Twitter to voice their views, Sussex fans note that historically, many royal mums have opted for home births – including the Queen, who had all four of her children within palace walls.
"It wasn't tradition until Princess Diana decided to give birth in a hospital," wrote one fan on Twitter.
"All of the Queen's children were born at home so if Meghan wants to do a home birth so what?"
Others agreed, with one commenting: "Who created this 'must be born at the Lindo Wing' protocol anyway?
"If a home birth was good enough for Queen E, then let M choose what's best for her and her child."
Another tweeted: "You all know that the Queen gave birth at home?
"… So how is what Meghan choosing to do a break from tradition?"
One wrote: "[The] only two people who did this were Diana and Kate.
"Megs' child will never be king or queen go home get some rest, the Queen did not have pics of Charles until he was three days old."
Another agreed: "Until Diana, all the royal babies were born at home."
The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, gave birth to all three of her children at the Lindo Wing, following in the footsteps of Princess Diana.
The Queen, however, had all four of her children at home.
Prince Charles was born at Buckingham Palace via Caesarian-section in 1948.
Brothers Prince Edward and Prince Andrew were both born at the palace too, while the Queen gave birth to Princess Anne at Clarence House.
This was because Buckingham Palace was mid-renovation following damage to the property during World War 2.
Kensington Palace announced yesterday that the royal couple, who are expected to welcome their first child together this month, have made the "personal decision" to avoid the public eye following the birth of their first child.
In a statement the palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.
"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.
"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
