They've supported the Foo Fighters, played the massive Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, toured relentlessly and now Melbourne-based rockers Clowns are releasing their fourth album and they're doing it on their own label, Damaged Records. Is there anything you can't do when you pour your heart, mind and soul into rock 'n' roll?
Opening with flat out and furious cranker Bland is the New Black (a track that quite frankly would fill the legendary Hard Ons with hope for the future) Nature/Nurture doesn't let up and comes with last year's single I Shaved My Legs For You among the onslaught of fuzzy, gloriously buzzing guitars and pounding drums.

Coinciding with Record Store Day around the country on Saturday, April 13, Clowns new album will be released internationally by Fat Wreck Chords, who also count the mighty Descendents and Against Me! among their artists.
Clowns drummer Jake Laderman told Sticky the band was "ecstatic about having our own label" releasing the new album, their fourth since coming together almost a decade ago . "I think every music lover dreams of bringing music to life at some stage and it's a venture we've pondered since our last record," he said. "The new Clowns record was definitely the best way to kick it off before releasing other artists' work, we've definitely learnt a lot along way."
Clowns will be touring nationally in June with dates being announced soon. In the meantime, get along to Record Store Day and keep an eye out for Clowns on the shelves.
album of the week
The Chemical Brothers
No Geography
(EMI)
★★★
There ain't no Block Rockin' Beats or Out Of Control on Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands' ninth long player but there's enough here to make the wait since 2015's Born in the Echoes worth it. The Chemical Brothers' place in the electronic music scene is undisputed, they've sat at or near the top of a very glittery tree since dropping Exit Planet Dust on the dance masses in 1995. Here it's Mad as Hell, the title track, opener Eve of Destruction and Got To Keep On with its typically cool guest vocals that keep interest in these pioneers up high. Dance floors will fill when the dynamic duo return to Australia.
