Derek Jeter is enjoying raising a family with wife Hannah in Miami after years of living in New York City.
Although the former New York Yankees star, who’s currently CEO of the Miami Marlins, is fiercely private when it comes to his daughters, in Haute Living‘s April/May cover story, he opened up about how much his family’s life has changed since moving out of the Big Apple.
“Raising a family in Miami is definitely different than in New York,” said Jeter, who shares daughters Story Grey, 10 weeks, and Bella Raine, 19 months, with the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.
“It’s nice because we’re now in our own home and it makes it easy to move around, play in the yard, enjoy the outdoors, etc.,” he shared, adding of himself and his wife, “We’re enjoying life and raising our family here.”
The father of two went on to share that there’s a big milestone on the horizon for Bella: “My oldest daughter is heading into school somewhat soon, so we’ve begun the process of looking at schools,” remarked Jeter, 44.

Derek Jeter Says Pregnant Wife Hannah “Has a Great Deal of Patience with Me”
The couple welcomed their second child together earlier this year. Read a celebratory Tweet from The Players’ Tribune on Jan. 31, “Congratulations Derek and Hannah on the birth of your second baby girl, Story Grey Jeter.”
The couple’s pregnancy news broke in September 2018, when Hannah was photographed out and about with a baby bump.
Just one day before the photos surfaced, the former Yankees captain raved about fatherhood, telling Extra how life as a dad has been “awesome” so far.
“Regardless of what happens in the course of a day, when you get home and you have your daughter there, it puts a smile on your face, so I have no complaints whatsoever,” he said.
Emphasizing how parenting is all about partnership, Jeter has always been adamant about championing what Hannah, 28, brings to the table.
“My wife deserves a lot of credit. She has been an unbelievable mother, she has a great deal of patience — not only with my daughter, but with me,” he told PEOPLE while celebrating his cover story Ocean Drive Magazine last year.
“Every day is something new,” the proud father raved at the Florida-based event. “When the baby is born, you can’t wait for her to crawl, then you can’t wait for her to walk.”
“Then when she starts walking, she starts running, and when she starts running, you wish she wasn’t walking, running or crawling — you wish she’d stay still,” he admitted. “Every day is something new, and you’re so proud of those little moments.”
