Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey are set to be a powerful dream team for mental health!
The prince and the media Queen are co-creating a series of documentaries for Apple next year as “partners, co-creators and executive producers,” they announced early Wednesday.
“I truly believe that good mental health — mental fitness — is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self,” Harry, 34, said in an announcement on the new @sussexroyal Instagram page.
“It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times,” Harry added. “Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive — sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better. I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”
Oprah, 65, responded, “Delighted to be partnering with you. Hope we shed a lot of light. And change some lives!”
The documentaries mark the next stage in Harry’s long-standing work on issues and initiatives regarding mental health. He has previously opened up about his own struggles with grief following his mother’s death.
The former Army captain has also become a world-leading advocate for those who silently suffer – especially in the military and among veterans. In 2016, he teamed with Prince William and Kate Middleton to create the Heads Together initiative encouraging more people to talk about the challenges they face.
Although this is the first public partnership between the royals and Oprah, the media titan was a guest at Meghan and Harry’s wedding last May.
