EasyJet passengers arriving on the Spanish island of Mallorca received an unusual welcome Sunday: a flamingo was strutting on the runway at Palma de Mallorca Airport.
Video of the spectacle was captured on video and shared to social media.
Pilots tried to hurry the bird along by honking their horn, but the flamingo didn’t seem to be in a rush. Towards the end of a video clip posted by Spain’s air traffic controllers organization, the flamingo briefly takes off only to return to the ground shortly after.
“A flamenco received passengers this morning arriving at the Palma airport. Very elegant, walking on the platform,” the video’s caption read.
In a statement to USA TODAY Tuesday, EasyJet spokesperson Andy Cockburn said the situation didn’t cause any harm or delays.
“At no point was any flight delayed or safety compromised in any way,” the statement read.
On the upside, passengers got a good story out of it.
