Nipsey Hussle's 'Victory Lap' Re-Enters Billboard Chart at No. 2 Following Rapper's Murder

Four of Nipsey Hussle’s mixtapes also entered the Billboard 200 chart following his death on March 31

A week after his murder, Nipsey Hussle‘s 2018 album Victory Lap has risen to No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

According to Nielsen Music, the late rapper’s only studio LP earned more than 66,000 units in the United States during the week ending April 4, 17,000 of which were physical copies. The album had previously peaked at No. 4 in March 2018.

Four of Hussle’s mixtapes also entered the Billboard 200 chart, including 2013’s Crenshaw (No. 63 with 11,000 units earned), 2016’s Slauson Boy 2 (No. 109 with 8,000 units earned), 2010’s The Marathon (No. 179 with 6,000 units earned) and 2014’s Mailbox Money (No. 192 with nearly 6,000 units earned).

Hussle, 33, died from gunshot wounds of both the head and torso, after being shot outside of his Los Angeles clothing store on March 31.

Eric Holder, 29, the man whom police believe shot the Grammy-nominated singer and activist has since been taken into custody and charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County’s District Attorney’s Office.

On Thursday, Holder entered a plea of not guilty in court. The aspiring rapper could face a maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted.

Holder has hired attorney Chris Darden, who famously was part of the prosecution team in O.J. Simpson’s murder trial, according to CBS LA.
