Ulrika Jonsson: ‘Not where I thought I’d be’ Star, 51, announces split from third husband

Ulrika Jonsson and Brian Monet began their relationship in 2006 and tied the knot two years later.

The former weather girl has now revealed they are getting a divorce after failing to “resolve problems” with one another.

Ulrika told Best magazine: “You can only resolve problems with another person. If I’m honest, getting another divorce aged 51 is not where I thought I would be, so who knows?’

The mother-of-four admitted she doesn’t want to think about doing again, following the split.

“I just don’t know what shape my future will take,” she said. I can’t contemplate dating again.

“Then again, I’ve said I will never marry again before, and I did.”

Ulrika continued: “I’ve been content being out of the limelight. I haven’t craved it but, that said, I do need to live.”

The star and Brian share one son together, Malcolm, 10.

In 2014, Brian adopted Ulrika’s daughter Bo, 18, from her previous relationship with Markus Kempen.

Ulrika also has another son, Cameron, 24, from her marriage to John Turnbull, who she wed in 1990 but divorced five years later.

And the presenter shares daughter Martha, 14, with ex-husband Lance Gerrard-Wright, who were married for two years.

Ulrika appeared on Lorraine this morning alongside Martha to talk about their appearance on Channel 4’s Let’s Talk About Sex, which airs on Friday.

In a rare interview together, Ulrika admitted she was “surprised” how knowledgable her daughter was about sex education.

The former Gladiators host revealed she hasn’t sat down and spoke about sex with Martha.

“Apart from the fact I learned she’s a very articulate, she’s always been a bit of an social justice warrior,” she said.

“She’s fighting that corner of things, it was quite surprising, we always have an open dialogue, I’ve never had the conversation about sex.”

Revealing how they deal with the subject, she continued: “[We’ve been] making lots of silly jokes to relax things, you’ve got to joke about it.

“I was shocked and surprised by some of the things you knew… the possibility of learning things at home, now you have the internet too, and Martha would say things and I’d say ”where did that come from?’”

Ulrika admitted she first learned about sex education aged six when growing up in Swenden.

Let’s Talk About Sex airs Friday on Channel 4 at 10pm.
