Road rage driver punches cyclist – even though car is on wrong side of street

A cyclist has captured the horrifying moment a driver punched him to the floor in a scary road rage attack.

Si Shimells spotted the 4×4 overtaking a line of traffic on the wrong side off the road in Sutton, Hull, on Friday.

In the clip, the rider can be heard saying: "You’re on the wrong side of the road," as the car pulls up beside him.

Mr Shimells said the man the leaned out of his window and punched him, causing him to fall off his bike.

His GoPro captured the angry exchange before the camera shakes violently, Hull Live reports.

Mr Shimells said: “I suddenly realised there was a car coming straight for me and I didn’t know what to do.

“At first I thought he was doing that to duck into one of the driveways of the houses, but he kept coming.

"A gap actually opened up when the car behind him stopped, but he didn’t turn into it, he actually turned into me.

“He caught me with the back end and I ended up getting caught up in his back wheel and it threw me over my bike.”

The cyclist added: “He wound his window down and was punching me on the head as he was driving past."

Mr Shimells said he contacted police and attended a walk-in centre for his injuries.

Mirror Online has contacted Humberside Police for comment.
