A. Seppi d. J. Thompson 6-3, 6-4, 6-4
Jordan Thompson has become the latest Australian to be eliminated at Melbourne Park, going down to Italian veteran Andreas Seppi in straight sets.
The match didn't reach any great heights, with Thompson simply unable to get past the brick wall that was Seppi, who was clinical from the baseline.
The Italian had only 11 unforced errors to Thompson's 34, managing to break the Australian's serve six times.
Thompson had a small window to break Seppi late in the third set at 4-4 and get back into the match, but hit a loose forehand long which saw him smash his racquet into the court.

Things went from bad to worse for Thompson after that. Seppi held serve with an ace out wide, before Thompson was called for a time violation by the chair umpire for delaying his serve at 0-30 while waiting for the wind.
Seppi now looks set to match up against South African fifth seed Kevin Anderson in the third round.
