TV chef Tom Kerridge claims we’re all using tin foil wrong – people can’t cope

Tin foil is one of those kitchen essentials everyone uses all the time.

Most of us don’t give it a second thought, we just cover our leftovers or wrap up our sandwiches and that’s that.

But TV chef Tom Kerridge completely baffled people he claimed there’s actually a correct way to use it – and most of us have been doing it wrong. Oops.

He mentioned the trick while preparing a fish dish on his show Fresh Start, which sees families overhaul their eating habits by following his easy tips, and viewers were amazed.

He said: "There are two sides to tin foil, there’s the shiny side and the not so shiny side.

"Always remember dull side up, shiny side down, it’s the reflective side

"That’s going to reflect as much heat back as possible

"Just cooks a little bit more efficiently."

People were shocked by his tip, and many admitted they never knew it was a thing.

Viewers took to social media to voice their amazement.

Others thought it was common knowledge, and were baffled that people do it wrong.

Some people however weren’t convinced at all, and said they didn’t think it made any difference.
