‘Emma’ and ‘Liam’ are NYC’s most popular baby names

If your newborn last year was named “Emma” or “Liam,” they’ve got lots of company.

Those were the most popular baby names for Big Apple residents in 2017, the Health Department reported Friday.

It was the second year in a row that Liam held the top spot for boys, with Emma moving up from third place in the girls category by knocking out Olivia.

“Eight of the top 10 boys’ names and nine of the top 10 girls’ names from 2016 held their place on the 2017 list,” the agency said in its report.

Dylan and Michael dropped from the top 10 in 2017, while David and Jayden were added. Jacob moved from second in 2016 to third in 2017, while Noah moved from fourth to second place.

Parents with more obscure tastes contributed to the rarest names category: Artemis, Tzippy, Reizy, Zeus and Azriel.

The total number of babies born in the city dropped by 2.8 percent from 120,367 to 117,013 — or 2.8 percent — from 2016 to 2017, officials said.
