Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and David De Gea were amongst the well-wishers as United favourites visited Francis House Children's Hospice and The Christie.
Old Trafford stars including Jesse Lingard, Fred and Nemanja Matic threw on club-branded Christmas hats to spread some festive cheer to ill kids.
The Premier League club posed for photos and handed out signed shirts, balls and gift bags as they did their bit to help then less fortunate this Christmas.
United were rocked by the news of Mourinho's sacking just hours earlier in the day, with the Special One becoming the Special Gone almost immediately after the 3-1 loss to Liverpool at the weekend.
But the players smiled and laughed their way through their hospital visit amid rumours many of them are happy to see the back of Mourinho, in particular Pogba.
The World Cup-winning midfielder infamously failed to get on with Mourinho during their controversy-laden time together.
But the Frenchman appears to have outlasted his now-former boss in Manchester as he looks to finally rediscover the form of his Juventus days.
However, Pogba may first be fined by the club for his "disrespectful" antics in the immediate aftermath of the Mourinho axing.
The France ace posted an image on Instagram of himself smirking, captioned: "Caption this."
Despite being a scheduled commercial message, the club may opt to punish Pogba – with many, including club legend Gary Neville, considering it to be an immature swipe at Mourinho.
Neville's tongue-in-cheek reply was liked 73,000 times and retweeted a further 20,000 times – as supporters clearly sided with the ex-England star.
Mourinho was sacked yesterday after a face-to-face meeting with Ed Woodward at 9am – with the loss to fierce rivals Liverpool the final straw.
United now languish in sixth in the Premier League – a massive 19 points behind the league-leading Reds… closer to last place than first.
In Mourinho's absence, Michael Carrick has been taking charge of training, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped for the caretaker job for the rest of the season.
